LINCOLN -- A short in an extension cord is to blame for starting a fire in a garage that spread to a house at 7020 South Wedgewood Drive early Thursday evening, injuring a man living there when he tried to rescue his pets. Fire Inspector Don Gross tells KFOR News the cord shorted and was plugged into an outlet close to some combustible tanks and aerosol cans. Gross says the man had numerous extension cords plugged in the garage for a complex set up of lights and battery chargers used for RC racing. The victim's injuries are believed to be not life-threatening.
