LINCOLN -- The man who died in a hit and run late Sunday night just east of 14th and Cornhusker has been identified as 53-year-old Daniel Lee Kreis. According to Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood, 46-year-old Kelly Hall was driving eastbound on Cornhusker around 9:30pm when she saw Kreis crossing and hit the brakes. She was unsuccessful. Flood says Hall briefly got out to check on Kreis, but quickly left without leaving any information. Hall called police about 20 minutes after the crash and investigators tracked her down, where they could smell alcohol on her. Hall was arrested at an apartment complex near 61st and Vine for leaving the scene of a fatal accident and felony DUI. Flood says Kreis died shortly before midnight at a hospital. Flood says Kreis was a transient.
