LINCOLN -- The family of a Nebraska man killed along a Mississippi highway would like to see a death sentence handed down in the case. The body of Tom Schlender was found May 8 along Interstate 55 in Panola County. The 74-year-old Raymond man had been shot four times. Three days later, local casino employee Lori Anne Carswell was found dead in her car on Mississippi Highway 713. James Willie has been charged with capital murder in Carswell's death. Prosecutors say the 28-year-old suspect will also be charged in Schlender's death. Schlender's son-in-law Matt Anderson says the family will ask prosecutors to seek the death penalty for Willie. Willie is being held on more than $1 million bond. It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
