PIERCE -- There doesn't seem to be many reasons for people from Denmark, Germany, and all across the United States would go to Pierce, Nebraska - but this weekend they are.... and it's for an auction. Starting Saturday at 9:30 AM there will be a vintage Chevy car auction to sell 500 low-mileage vehicles that belonged to Ray Lembrecht. Organizers of the auction estimate that anywhere from 12 thousand to 20 thousand people will attend over the weekend. Our media partner 10/11 reports that Lambrecht opened a car dealership in Piece in 1946. He and his wife, Mildred, sold Chevy's for 50 years before closing in 1996. He kept the cars in warehouses, garages, and on his land instead of lowering prices because he believed their value would only increase over time. There will be 13 parking sites across town, with a shuttle driving between five of them. Gates for the auction opened at 7AM yesterday - admission is free for the public and it will continue today starting again at 9:30a.
