Two Women Arrested For Attempted Walmart Theft

Two women are facing felony charges after trying to steal merchandise from the Wal-Mart.
Lincoln Police were called to the Wal-Mart near 84th & Adams when store employees reported two women were in the store and about to steal carts full of merchandise.
According to Sergeant Steve Weise, before officers arrived, store employees contacted the women as they were exiting the store. One woman was detained by employees and the other ran back into the store. When officers arrived, they arrested both woman and tallied items they had in two shopping carts totaling more than $2,000.
Weise said the description of the women matched a similar case earlier in the evening from the Wal-Mart store on Hwy 2 and Andermatt Drive.
A store manager from Hwy. 2 came to the 84th Street store and positively identified the pair as the same two who had taken shopping carts full if items. The estimate from the Hwy. 2 theft is at least $1,500.
Officers said the types of items taken from both stores were random. Toys, juice, electronics, paper items, cleaning supplies, clothing, car accessories including a car battery, laundry detergent and various kitchen items were found in the carts.
The names of the women have not yet been released, but both women are being lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on multiple felony charges.
