LINCOLN -- Hickman,%20NE.jpg" style="width: 150px; height: 150px; float: left;" />Hickman is building a community center with the help of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.  About $25,000 worth of tax credits will help support construction of the new center, which will include space for receptions, community events, youth activities and sporting events.  There will be public meeting space; a reading center; kitchen; and city offices.  The Hickman Area Community Foundation Fund has raised nearly $30,000 from small donations since 2008 for the project.  In March, voters also adopted a 1 1/2% sales tax to help fund the $2 1/2 million project.
