HUSKER MEN'S BASKETBALL: White, Shields Help NU Over Ark. Pine Bluff

Andrew White III and Shavon Shields combined for 23 first-half points to lead Nebraska past Arkansas-Pine Bluff 67-44 on Tuesday night. The Cornhuskers (4-1) pulled away late in the opening period, holding the Golden Lions (1-4) without a field goal for the last 8:03 of the half.

NWU MEN'S BASKETBALL: Bardsley Scores 35 In Upset of No. 19 Midland

For the second straight season the Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team upset nationally-ranked Midland University at Snyder Arena as they handed the 19th-ranked Warriors a 102-95 loss on Tuesday night (Nov. 24).

FOOTBALL: Millard North holds off Wildcats for 21-14 win in 'A' final

Ethan Morrison passed for two touchdowns and ran for another, and No. 4 Millard North held off No. 1 Millard West on the last play for a 21-14 victory in the Class A championship game at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night. 

FOOTBALL: Columbus Scotus defeats Norfolk Catholic 32-27 in C1 final

Cole Harrington rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns and Brady Przymus ran and passed for scores as No.  3 Columbus Scotus won its first state football title since 1993 with a 32-27 victory over top-ranked Norfolk Catholic in the Class C1 final at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday.

FOOTBALL: David City Aquinas tops Oakland-Craig 36-7 in Class C2 final

Noah Pelan and Lane Napier combined to rush for 306 yards and three touchdowns, Spencer Maguire connected with Kenton Kobza for a 71-yard TD and No. 3 David City Aquinas defeated No. 6 Oakland-Craig 36-7 in the Class C2 championship game at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday.

Lincoln Police Chief Jim Peschong said Wednesday morning no arrest will be made in the case of an alleged sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman at a home of three Nebraska football players.  

Former Stars Hockey Players Plead Guilty In Sex Video Case

Two former Lincoln Stars hockey players will serve jail time after pleading guilty to making a sex video with a 15-year-old girl in Moorhead, Minnesota last year. Thomas Carey and Brandon Smith each pleaded guilty Tuesday to three felony charges.  A

Cole Huff scored 26 points, and Creighton broke open a close game with 13 consecutive points in the second half to beat Rutgers 85-75 Monday night in the Main Event tournament at the MGM Grand.

Braden Wright rushed for two touchdowns and passed for a third, and Moses Bryant ran and passed for TDs in top-ranked Elkhorn South's 32-21 victory over No. 3 Aurora in the Class B championship game at Memorial Stadium on Monday night.

Kale Kleinschmidt rushed 29 times for 218 yards and three touchdowns, Riley Tegtmeier threw for 149 yards and two scores, and No. 2 Bruning-Davenport/Shickley defeated No. 8 Burwell 44-30 in the Class D1 championship game on Monday at Memorial Stadium. 

FOOTBALL: Humphrey SF Defeats CWC 22-20 in Class D2 Title Game

Damien Bamgart threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to lead No. 5 Humphrey St. Francis to a 22-20 come-from-behind victory over No. 2 Chambers/Wheeler Central in the Class D2 championship game at Memorial Stadium on Monday.

Tai Webster scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half to lead Nebraska to a 37-point halftime advantage and an easy 92-65 victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday. 

Lincoln Native Glenn Retiring As USD Football Coach

University of South Dakota football coach and Lincoln native Joe Glenn is retiring.    The 66-year-old Pius X High School graduate compiled a record of 200-134-1 in 28 seasons, and is one of 76 coaches in NCAA history to win 200 games. 

HUSKER MEN'S BASKETBALL: Nebraska Survives Delaware State Comeback

Shavon Shields scored 21 points, Andrew White III added 20 and Nebraska beat Delaware State 75-60 after the Cornhuskers blew most of a 25-point lead during a second-half lull Thursday night.    

No. 14 Hoosiers Cruise Past Bluejays

James Blackmon Jr. scored 19 points and Thomas Bryant added 17 to help No. 14 Indiana rout Creighton 86-65 in men's basketball on Thursday night.    Bryant dominated the middle as the Hoosiers (3-0) won their third in a row by more than 20 points.

Lincoln Christian's Jared Bubak is among approximately 100 selected football players to participate in the nationally televised Semper Fi All-American Bowl. Bubak has ranked as the No. 28 tight end, and No. 1 prospect in Nebraska. 

HUSKER MEN'S BASKETBALL: No. 11 Villanova routs Nebraska 87-63

Josh Hart scored 19 points, Daniel Ochefu had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and No. 11 Villanova rolled past Nebraska 87-63 on Tuesday night.    Ryan Arcidiacono added 15 points and Phil Booth scored 11 for the Wildcats (2-0), who shot 49.2 percent from the field.

Zierden with 24 points, Creighton beats UTSA 103-78

Isaiah Zierden made five 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 24 points, and Creighton rolled to a 103-78 victory over UTSA on Tuesday night.    Zierden was 7 of 13 from the floor and had four assists.

HUSKER BASKETBALL: Men's and Women's Teams Land Major Recruits

The Nebraska Men's Basketball team picked up a three-star recruit in Jeriah Horne out of Overland Park, Kansas.  Horne signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to play for the Cornhuskers over Kansas State, Wichita State, Pepperdine and DePaul.

The State High School Volleyball tournament starts Thursday at four sites around Lincoln, including Pinnacle Bank Arena, where 5th-seeded Lincoln Southwest plays No. 4 seed Papillion-LaVista South at 3:30pm.  No. 2 seed North Platte will play No. 7 seed Lincoln Southeast at 5:30pm.

HUSKER FOOTBALL: Offense Looking To Take Advantage of Young Rutgers Defense

The Nebraska football team practiced for a little under two hours Tuesday afternoon. The offense practiced in Memorial Stadium and the defense practiced in the Hawks Championship Center in order to prepare for Saturday's game against Rutgers.

Pius X Football Coach Aylward Steps Down

Tim Aylward, who spent 31 of his 42 years in the teaching and coaching profession, announced Monday afternoon he will be stepping down as head football coach at Lincoln Pius X. Aylward, Pius X's second football coach in the school's 60-year history, will focus full time on his duties as the school's athletic director.

Jets Receiver, Former Husker Enunwa Suspended

New York Jets wide receiver and former Husker Quincy Enunwa has been suspended four games without pay by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy.  The suspension stems from an incident last year when Enunwa was arrested for simple assault on his girlfriend at a New Jersey hotel.

HUSKER BASEBALL: 2016 Schedule Is Out

Nebraska’s 2016 baseball schedule was released on Monday morning. The 56-game schedule kicks off on Friday, Feb. 19, when the Huskers open a three-game series against the College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. 

NWU Adds Women's Bowling

Nebraska Wesleyan University announced Wednesday that women’s bowling will be added as a sport beginning in the 2016-17 school year.  A search for a head coach is currently underway with competition scheduled to begin with the 2016-17 winter sports season.

Newby Garners Big Ten Honors

Nebraska I-back Terrell Newby is the Big Ten's co-offensive player of the week. The junior from Los Angeles established career highs with 28 carries for 198 yards in Saturday's 48-9 win over South Alabama.  He also ran for two touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass.

Nebraska football Head Coach Mike Riley responded Wednesday to a lawsuit filed by a former student at Oregon State University. The lawsuit alleges that Riley contributed to a rape culture on the campus.

Former Nebraska Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Eric Crouch and Outland Trophy award winner Zach Wiegert are among 76 former Football Bowl Subdivision players on the 2016 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot, which was released by the National Football Foundation on Tuesday.  

Nebraska coach Miles' pay hits $2 million after down season

Tim Miles has received a 21-percent raise that makes him the first Nebraska basketball coach to be paid $2 million a year.    The school released Miles' new salary on Wednesday, a day after he received a one-year contract extension through 2019-2020.

Nebraska to open 2017 football season against Arkansas St.

Nebraska will open the 2017 football season against Arkansas State in Lincoln.    The Nebraska athletic department announced Monday that the Red Wolves would visit Memorial Stadium on Sept. 2. The game will be the third between the schools.
