South Sioux City Memorial Wall Dedication Draws Hundreds
The dedication of a replica Memorial Wall drew hundreds of Vietnam veterans to Freedom Park in South Sioux City. The half-scale replica of the wall bears the names of more than 58,000 U.S. service members killed in the Vietnam War. The 250 foot black granite wall is the only replica that duplicates the original design in the nation's capital. The granite came from the same quarry in India. The wall's completion opens the first phase of the $4 million, 55 acre park, dedicated to those who have served and died for their country. Organizers hope to break ground this summer on a 12,000 square-foot interpretive center.
