An Omaha police officer and his wife were charged with witness tampering, accused of trying to cover up accusations that their son molested their daughter, starting when she was 3. Court records say the pair also are charged with child abuse for placing a child in a situation to be sexually abused and with being accessories to a felony, because they tried to hinder an investigation. An investigator says the two children, now ages 16 and 21, say their parents knew about the incest and encouraged them to lie about what happened. The names of the couple haven't been released to protect the girl's privacy. The officer is on paid administrative leave.
