North Lincoln Town Home Natural Gas Leak Safely Maintained
(4-16-14) A natural gas leak in north Lincoln town homes caused evacuations but no major inconveniences. Lincoln Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Eric Jones said Black Hills workers called in the leak at about 9:30 a.m. from the Glenbrook town homes in the 1600 block of Knox Street after they accidentally cut into an 1.25 inch gas line, causing the leak. About an hour later, Lincoln Fire and Rescue and an underground digging company were leaving the scene after digging up the mess and making sure the area was clean and safe. Chief Jones says that we were luck to have today's windy conditions as it helps dissipate the natural gas. Most of the Glenbrook town homes effected were under construction, so contractors and construction workers were primarily the ones evacuated. There was no property damage and no injuries.
