The county board gave its approval to Mayor Beutler's two nominees for seats on the city county planning commission today (Wednesday). Lincoln landscape architect Dennis Scheer and Southeast Community College Instructor Tracy Corr were both approved on 4-1 votes. Outgoing county board member Bernie Heier voted no; he thinks the county board should share the nominating power with the mayor. Commissioner Brent Smoyer said he hopes the new members will promote growth in new areas. The county board recently passed a resolution that allowed them to nominate 4 of the 9 members, but so far the city council hasn't acted on it.
