Police this morning (Monday) arrested a man who ran from a wrecked SUV with a fake back license plate. Capt. Michon Morrow told KFOR NEWS that 27-year-old Douglas Shaw was taken to jail for fleeing to avoid arrest and leaving the scene of an injury accident. Early yesterday (Sunday) morning, Shaw was spotted driving the vehicle around 27th and Vine with no front license plate; the back one turned out to be fictitious. Officers gave chase, but backed off at 27th and H when the situation became too dangerous. The SUV then rear-ended another car. Douglas and a female passenger, whose name is not being released, ran off. The people inside the car were not seriously hurt.
