LINCOLN, Neb.- Longtime Blaze 104.1 FM personality “Sparky” will undergo a bone marrow transplant for cancer treatment. Sparky has been battling the disease for the last years and a half. Sparky issued the following statement to his friends and fans via Facebook:“I want to share a personal message with each of my friends on Facebook. Soon you will not hear my voice on The Blaze for about two months, could be longer. On Wednesday I will be entering the hospital as I have been quietly battling cancer for the last 18 months. Once I check in I will be taking a giant step forward to good health and full recovery as I will be having a bone marrow transplant. I will be in the hospital for many weeks and possibly months. The first two weeks will be grueling followed by complete isolation from family, friends and my microphone. I hope with your positive thoughts and prayers that this process will go quickly so I can get back on the air. In the meantime I will do my best to keep you informed via Facebook on my progress and the status of my condition. Thanks in advance for your support, I have been with The Blaze since the beginning and I am very anxious to return to the station that I love.”
Sparky has had a huge impact on the Lincoln broadcast area since joining The Blaze staff in 1993. We wish him all the best on the road to wellness and pray for successful treatment.
