27-year-old Daniel Vanwey of Lincoln was stopped in the 1800 block of North 30th early yesterday (Sunday) morning, suspected of having a methamphetamine pipe in his possession. When officers were taking Vanwey into custody, he shoved one of them causing him to fall. He grabbed the pipe that had been set aside and took off running. Sometime during his escape, Vanwey threw the pipe and police could not find it again. When he was caught and searched, corrections officials found a bag of meth on Vanwey. He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, refusing to comply with order of the police and resisting arrest.
