Governor cuts lawn watering on Capitol and other state buildings

Governor Heineman is ordering the state to cut its lawn-watering at the Capitol building, around the governor's mansion and other state buildings in Lincoln. State officials will only water lawns twice a week to help conserve during the drought. Setting an example for other citizens of the state, the governor is also urging you to save energy by setting your thermostat higher than normal, and shutting off lights and appliances that aren't being used. Mayor Beutler asked you last week to help the city reduce its water usage to 60 million gallons per day.
