GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol has arrested another Grand Island City official. Over the weekend, troopers booked Finance Director Jaye Monter for driving while intoxicated, fleeing to avoid arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, and refusal to be tested. After a deputy witnessed Monter rear-end another car, the deputy tried stopping her, but Monter kept driving. The State Patrol caught up with Monter in Cairo later that night. Monter is the 2nd Grand Island city official to be picked up for DWI in the last 3 months or so. In March, Mayor Jay Vavricek was arrested, but struck a plea deal and was charged with reckless driving. Monter has been with Grand Island's Finance Department since 2000.
