Fischer, Kerrey Offer Different Solutions For Western Farmers
As parts of Western Nebraska continue to burn, debate between senate candidates Republican Deb Fischer and Democrat Bob Kerrey is heating up. Both are urging Congress to pass the Farm Bill to help ranchers affected by the fires, but each have different ideas about other ways to help. Kerrey wants to offer low-interest loans faster to ranchers and add grazing land into the crop insurance program. On the other hand, Fischer thinks conservation programs should disappear during severe drought and weight and length requirements should be suspended for vehicles delivering feed and livestock to disaster areas.
