Employee Health Program Garners Nebraska National Attention
Nebraska's program to improve employee health is gaining national recognition. Nebraska was one of two winners of the 2012 C. Everett Koop National Health Awards named for the former surgeon general. The state encourages its employees to pursue healthy lifestyles and get preventative care. The program has helped improve employees' physical activity and encouraged employees to quit smoking. As a result, the growth in health costs for the state has slowed.
