Douglas County Man Dies From West Nile

A Douglas County man has died from West Nile virus. It is the county's first West Nile-related death. Health Director Dr. Adi Pour says the man was over 65 years old and was hospitalized. He travelled to Texas before getting sick with the disease. West Nile virus is transmitted to people through the bite of a mosquito that has picked up the virus from an infected bird. The virus has flu-like symptoms. Wear repellant and long sleeves and try not to go outside during dusk and dawn to avoid getting sick.
