LINCOLN -- If you use the Murdock Trail, make sure you use extreme caution between 56th and 84th Streets. Lincoln Parks and Rec officials say there is severe cracking along the trail caused by the drought. Natural Resource Manager Terry Genrich tells KFOR News it is difficult to close the section of trail because it has multiple access points. The trail also runs past Mahoney Park in northeast Lincoln. Genrich said the city has been monitoring the condition of the Murdock Trail as well as the Salt Valley Levee and Jamaica North trails. All three are constructed from limestone shavings. He said the Salt Valley Levee and Jamaica North trails remain in good condition, but trail users should we aware that cracking is a possibility under dry conditions.
