A member of the City-County Planning Commission will announce today (Tuesday) that she's running for the City Council next year. Leirion Gaylor Baird plans to announce her intentions at 10 o'clock this morning (Tuesday) from her home near 24th and South. Baird's campaign comes less than a week before the council votes on a replacement for Adam Hornung, who resigned to take a different job. The Mayor's Office said that there's an understanding that the person appointed to Hornung's council seat will not run in the spring election, so as not to give that person an unfair advantage.
