An alert Lancaster County man helped lead authorities to the person allegedly responsible for a burglary in his garage. Waylon Timmerman reported to authorities that his detached garage near 98th and Waverly Road had been broken into and several items including a tool chest, rifles and numerous tools were missing. Timmerman noticed an ad on craigslist yesterday (Thursday) featuring a tool chest matching the description of the one stolen from his garage. Timmerman took the key to his missing tool chest and met with the advertiser, 22 year old Joey Delaney at 6840 Logan Avenue. Without Delaney noticing, Timmerman tested the key; it fit the lock on the chest. Timmerman alerted the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office and an investigation led to the arrest of Delaney, who admitted to the theft. He was taken into custody on two unrelated warrants and charged with burglary for the break-in. A $6400 loss was reported. The tool chest and several tools were recovered, the rifles remain missing.
