Alcohol was not a factor in a head on crash last night (Monday) on Fairfield Street between 22nd and 25th, nor was speed; but a cell phone was. The driver of a Cadillac who crossed the center line was on a cell phone just before slamming head-on into a small blue Toyota. The driver was ticketed for negligent driving. Melvin Grayer was the first to arrive at the accident scene. The driver pinned in the Cadillac handed him her 9-month-old baby, who didn't appear to be injured. The Jaws of Life were used to free both drivers who, along with the baby, were taken to Bryan West with non-life threatening injuries.
