18th Annual MLK Youth Rally & March Held In Lincoln

The 18th Annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Rally and March was held this morning (Monday) at the state capitol building. The theme, “Maintaining the torch. Fueling the fire to take the next steps!” was carried throughout the program, led by an impressive array of talented student speakers and singers. Two Giant Steps Community Contributor awards to given posthumously to Hoa Tran and Everett Smith. Tran was the first ever bilingual liaison for Lincoln Public Schools and Smith was a coach and teacher at Irving Middle School who passed away last November. The program was a remarkable display of the legacy created by community activist and Youth Rally & March Founder, Leola Bullock, who passed away in 2010.
