Nebraska Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood has withdrawn his name from consideration for the governor’s race in 2014. Flood is stepping away from the political landscape due to the fact that his wife, Mandi, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Flood said that his family is now his top priority and wasn’t sure what his politicalk future holds. Senator Mike Johanns applauded Flood’s decision and voiced his support. Johanns said that the decision proves that Flood is a man of character by putting his family first.
